Description
In 1806, the Stockman family leaves the Territory of Orleans (soon to become Louisiana) for the wilds of Spanish Texas.
The German-Americans came to settle with the blessings of Spain, only to find themselves embroiled in a bitter conflict between Mexico and Spain for control of Tejas territory.
Joining forces with a dashing young Spanish Royalist deserter, they fight to rid Mexico and Texas from Spanish rule and then find themselves vilified by North Americans pouring illegally into Mexican Texas's unprotected border.
Targets of prejudice because of their Mexican citizenship, the Stockmans struggle along cultural lines to remain neutral. And then a man they once trusted, Mexican President Santa Ana, forces them to take a stand.
This thirty-year saga leading up to the fall of the Alamo is one family's struggle to remain in Texas despite constant political upheaval.
