Description
She would kill him first and then kill herself. That would solve everything.
Liam didn't know her and never had. Ania saw that clearly now. The Norblade captain she foolishly mated two years ago chose not to honor her death with dignity. Instead, he'd put his family's daemon inside her without her permission. Then he'd left her alone on her planet to deal with his unexplained abandonment and the daemon's presence while he pursued the space adventures he so obviously loved more than her. Hate was too mild a word for what she felt toward him.
And how could Lt. Dorian Zade, her centuries-old Siren friend, consider Liam a friend as well? She saw nothing sacred in Liam Synar's character. The only devotion he felt was toward the ship he commanded. At least her increasingly wicked thoughts had an explanation, not that understanding did her any good.
As a far older alien being than the male who'd ruined her life, Ania knew killing Liam was the only action that would avenge the enlightened soul Liam's selfish actions had corrupted. But what would Liam's death accomplish? It would not undo the past or what he did to her. It would simply give Connor what he wanted.
And what release would her death bring? If Liam fought his brother and lost, the daemon inside her would pass to Connor Synar who'd sent assassins after her twice now. She could not allow that to happen and would not allow it so long as she had breath, no matter what power kept her alive.
If she'd been given the choice, she would have chosen death over becoming the Daemon of Synar's physical host. To allow him to remain inside her, Ania would be fighting her own inner darkness as well as the alien force calling himself Malachi. But what other choice did she have?
