Description
My Own CEO brings nine young people together in a series of interviews chronicling their first steps into the business world. Their mentor, Robert Bloch, explores the passion that drives them to try, stumble, and succeed.
Learn about Peter Deng, the Sudanese refugee who vowed to help orphans like himself, Ginger Viera, the woman who proved that you can be a competitive powerlifter while living with diabetes, and others. Each interview tells the story of a person finding their passion, and is followed by a reflective essay in which Robert puts his years of business experience to work evaluating the strategies employed by each of these remarkable men and women.
The book is also an introduction to Champlain College's entrepreneurship-fostering BYOBiz program. It describes business that started in the program, including The Lodge, an on-campus convenience store that was created from two students' miraculous feat: selling Pepsi products on a Coke campus.
The book was designed and published by the Champlain College Publishing Initiative, the only program of its kind staffed entirely by undergraduates. Champlain College's innovative spirit is in these pages.
