Tommy Withers and Blake Hartley were good friends, as their allotments were next door to each other. When Withers doesn't turn up for a pre-arranged drink at the pub, Hartley returns to the allotment to find his body sprawled on the ground. It soon becomes apparent this is murder and Hartley, together with his sergeant, Ibrahim Khan, link the murder to a criminal network operating in many different countries. This time Hartley's investigations take him to Australia and it is in Adelaide that the crime is finally solved.
