Kids succeed where adults fear to tread
DUNKIRK 1940: Sergeant Thomas Brookes is badly injured. A compassionate discharge and the Blitz force him and his family to the small town of Nettleton-on -Sea. Facing long retirement, his previous experience is seized upon and he sees himself promoted to Captain - in the Home Guard.
Desperately ill-equipped, the Home Guard struggle to make headway. As his children, Harry and Eve are joined by the local children, the best efforts of the Captain and his men are soon mimicked, and - Kid's Army - is born.
Hopelessly starved of provisions, the Home Guard continue to struggle to survive. However, what they can't get right - Kid's Army can.
During Britain's darkest hour, the nation's very existence is under threat.
A long hot summer ahead of them, a downed Heinkel bomber, a radio transmitter, and a strange codebook all need closer investigation. The appearance of Irish terrorist and German agent, Sean O'Callaghan, only adds to the confusion.
