Description
This edition of 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' uses the March 1902, George Newnes, Ltd. edition as its source manuscript. It also contains fine contemporary illustrations, an appendix with reproductions of the original works by Sidney Paget, and 'Sidney Paget' by Edwin J. Black. 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' is possibly the most beloved adventure of the renowned sleuth, Sherlock Holmes and his trusty sidekick, Dr. Watson. Set largely on Dartmoor in Devon, England, it tells the story of an attempted murder inspired by the legend of a diabolical hound of supernatural origin. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, investigate the case. It is the third of the crime novels written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle featuring the detective Sherlock Holmes. In 1999, it was listed as the top Holmes novel, with a perfect rating from Sherlockian scholars of one hundred. In 2003, it was listed in the top two hundred of the BBC's 'The Big Read poll of the UK's "best-loved novel."'
