Description
Josefina Bradshaw didn't find out that her mother was really her stepmother until she was almost nineteen years old. It explained why she treated her differently from her sisters and brother; why she could never understand her gift with horses.
When her father was away on business, her stepmother told her that the telegram she received told of her father's death and burial at sea. Forcing her into an arranged marriage pushed Jo to pack her few clothes and lead the small herd of wild mustangs north.
It had always been Jo's dream to train horses, which of course was not allowed for a woman, and completely forbidden for a beautiful woman. She made her way eighty miles north to a small town where she met the owner of a Livery Stable who recognized her talent with horses. Allowing her to stay in the old ranch house on his seldom used land for the winter in exchange for two of her saddle broke horse, they became good friends and partners.
Taking some of her horses to auction, her skills as a trainer caught the attention of several horse owners. Her talents caught the eye of Gabe Ralston, a trainer himself looking to start his own horse ranch. What looked like a short term stay on the ranch was turning into a great place to start her own horse ranch.
When Jo's father returned from his business trip, her stepmother told him that Jo up and left without even saying goodbye. When he learned that Jo thought he was dead, he started searching for her, but with weeks of head start, her trail was cold.
Just when Gabe was ready to admit his love for Jo, their future is in question when her father shows up.
