Otis and Charlie were both in their early 70's when they first saw the map - the map to the vault buried below the old ghost town known as Heaven's Gate.
The two widowers had been looking for an adventure and a chance to get away from the everyday routine of living in a retirement community. Now, they had their chance - a chance to feel young and alive again and to possibly make a lot of money. In the process, the two friends could also solve a fifty year old mystery and prove a legend to be true - a lengend concerning Howard Hughes and the vault under Heaven's Gate - a massive vault that supposedly held fifty, new and prestine, 1981 Deloreans.
Dealing with the Indian curse and avoiding the ghosts and spirits that inhibited the old town seemed to be a minor worry - at least for now.
