Theodore Clod, when fishing, gets pulled into a Louisiana bayou by an alligator gar. He doesn't catch the fish, but he does catch a brain-eating amoeba. Near death, Theo is transported to Memphis, where he is placed into an iron lung for three weeks.

There is little hope for the comatose boy. Then, something miraculous happens. Elvis Presley visits the Children's Hospital, and he sings 'Amazing Grace' to Theodore.

Theo wakes up and sees the eyes of The King above him. He also sees something else...
