Description

For centuries, tales have told of merfolk haunting the seas, strange creatures teasing or helping sailors at their whim, occasionally having them for dinner.

And not in a cordial sense.

Alexis Silver was ahead of her time, a woman too smart to fit into society at the turn of the century. She gave up her dreams of higher education for love, marrying young, but her husband and the life she wanted perished soon after in World War I.

Heartbroken and restless, Alexis booked passage on a cruise along the West Coast in search of adventure, but adventure found her.

The ship capsized, killing everyone on board -- except for her. As she drifted far beneath the waves, inexplicably alive, the reason for her survival flashed by in a streak of silver: a merman.

He had passed along the curse -- or gift, as Alexis sees it.

A century later, Alexis breaks up the monotony of immortality in the Pacific Northwest by working as a private investigator. When a nice older couple hires her to find their missing son and his family, her instincts tell her this isn't a usual missing person case.

It doesn't take long for Alexis to realize something wicked has arrived in the Puget Sound, and if she doesn't act fast, a little girl is going to die...
Silver Light is the first book in the Alexis Silver series of underwater-themed mysteries and adventures, and is part of the broader Vampire for Hire world.

WHAT READERS ARE SAYING:

"Silver Light is an engrossing story of Alexis Silver who was turned into a mermaid after a ship she was sailing on sank into the deep ocean. She has become a PI and along with the dark entity that has taken up residence in her, they become one kick-ass team of solving cases for those who need their service. If you are a fan of either of these authors or are just looking for an extraordinary new book to read, then pick up Silver Light and lose yourself in this amazing world!" -- Amazon review

"Loved it! Rain and Cox are such great authors, their characters are so well thought out and amazing; Alexis Silver has to be one of my favorites now. Great job and highly recommend it." -- Amazon review

"Dang it, I wanted this book to continue on. You are in for a delightful read if you haven't read this one by Matthew S. Cox and J.R. Rain! Alexis is another of their wonderful characters that you will fall in love with. Alexis is a mermaid who happens to be a PI with some fantastic powers to help her along the way. I need the next book soon!" -- Amazon review

"Loved this book! I have been looking and hoping someone would write a story about a mermaid! This book is awesome! Just about to start #2! I love Alexis's character and her co-habitant Dark Master!" -- Amazon review

"Silver Light is Great! Having been a fan of the Samantha Moon series I sort of suspected I would enjoy this as well. Boy was I right. I actually laughed out loud several times and the interaction of Alex and her Dark Master. Thoroughly enjoyable read. If you are a fan of Sam you will enjoy this as well. And the little tie-in to the Moon series is a nice little treat." -- Amazon review

"An entertaining read with the twist of the main character being a mermaid private investigator. The buildup of the supernatural powers of a mermaid are well developed and draw the reader into this storyline. It is refreshing to have a new mythological entity enter the ring as a heroine. The authors spin a well thought out tale of mystery and supernatural resolution. Starting the second book right away." -- Amazon review
