Description
Joslyn Rhodes is a blacksmith's daughter growing up in the impoverished village of Merle. Her simple life takes a devastating turn when her parents are accused of a crime punishable by death in the country of Mallard. A country on the brink of war with unforgiving laws and harsh penalties. Darkness seems inevitable for a country based on class systems in the medieval time period of the story. Court is held only twice a year and has fallen upon the same day as the village's annual celebration.
A day that will change Joslyn's life forever.
A chance meeting with a certain nobleman produces an offer that she is torn to accept. She longs for the past life she never appreciated until it was taken away. Between treason and deception a village girl becomes a pawn in the noblemen's game of power. Not knowing who she can trust, Joslyn Rhodes must learn to change her circumstances if she ever wants to find her place in the world. Hard lessons prove that her place may not be what it seems and the only thing that matters is being free.
