Police crime thriller.

The story follows Chief Inspector Salt as he investigates the murder of a young nurse found strangled, and dumped in a field. Following the untimely the death of his wife, Chief Inspector Salt accepts a post in Birmingham away from his hectic life in the Met, and his home swamped with memories. Finding it difficult to part with his wife's ashes, he re-locates to Birmingham with his daughter, Meredith, and attempts to re-build his life. Within in days of his new position, he is faced with his first case, the murder of a young nurse found strangled, and dumped in a field. However, the complexities, and lies surrounding the case proves to be the most challenging investigation of his career as he discovers the victim was not the demure, and innocent person she portrayed.
