When thirty year old David Cooper learns of his mother's passing, he leaves his dead-end job and fiancée in LA and returns home to the small desert town in New Mexico where he grew up. Without a father or siblings, it falls on him to take care of her affairs which include running the family diner. While struggling to decide his future, he stumbles upon an old family secret. His grandfather, who died before he was born, had caused the Roswell flying saucer crash and had hidden a device from the alien craft somewhere inside the restaurant. David quickly realizes he's not the only one who knows about it when a crusty old man named Carl shows up with a gun and tries to beat him to it. Fresh on his heels is Kim, an attractive special agent who's been trailing Carl in hopes that he will lead her to the device. She works for a covert organization that believes it is the missing element for an alien ship they have been trying to activate.
