Description
An Israelite father; a Canaanite mother. A young boy is caught between two worlds during the time of Samuel the Seer. Captured by the Sea Peoples during a battle, he is enslaved and taken to the Philistine stronghold of Gath where he meets two young girls who will shape his future. All the while, he remembers his friend, a beautiful Canaanite girl, and wonders whether he will ever see her or his parents again.

I wake up in the middle of the night sometimes, and I still see their faces. While they try to haunt me, I would fight them again without question.
All this I did for my family, for my people, and for Saul, my king, the first real ruler of our clans. I was loyal to him. He was my kinsmen. I was a trusted warrior, and I dwelt in his palace.
I was the son of a nobleman of our tribe and serving Saul had been a great privilege at least at one time. Despite all my devotion and loyalty and the pain I endured, all that was taken away from me because of foolish suspicion...
