Description
Tallia Thomas married her one true love, but only after he broke her heart. When things went wrong, she concentrated on her painting, and as time passed, her artwork made Lamesa, Texas more than a blip on the map. She'd always been Lamesa's most famous resident, if not the most eccentric because of a terrible childhood trauma. When she was 6 years old she was abducted from her home and after three days she miraculously escaped. The experience left her with a disability known as selective mutism and helpless at the most inopportune times.
When people asked what her husband did for a living, Tallia told them he was in the U.S. Army, working in government intelligence. This really wasn't the entire truth because she really didn't know what her husband did for the Army. Sometimes he told her he was a foreign area officer, and at other times he served as a translation analyst, and at other times he taught in the School of the Americas in Panama. What she did know for sure was he spent less and less time at home, and he spoke foreign languages his sleep. Languages she didn't know he spoke.
As time passes Talia balances the fine line between reality and fantasy as she deals with the difficulties raising a family on her own, and her deep love for a man doing Government Work.
