Description

Gabriel Radu isn't your average detective...

Residing in the quaint but quirky town of Denmark, Tennessee, the semi-immortal Gabriel is called upon from time to time to assist local law enforcement in solving unusual crimes that often end in murder.

And by unusual, the crimes always involve something he's quite familiar with: magic.

When Sheriff Billy McCain comes calling for help in solving the brutal slayings of a pair of homeless men whose corpses have been marked by a dark snake and scythe symbol, Gabriel accepts the challenge to help solve the case and bring the killer or killers to justice.

But the assignment comes with a terrifying caveat. The mark left upon both victims points to an ancient entity that rarely visits our world... but when it does, it leaves widespread death and destruction in its wake.

The initial killings soon begin to multiply, and the mysterious reasons behind why this ancient menace has chosen the tiny town in Tennessee begin to come into focus for Gabriel.

Relying on his investigative instincts and courage, the quest to stop the growing body count before it erupts into uncontrolled carnage brings Gabriel closer and closer to a confrontation with... The Soul Taker.

What Readers are saying:

"If you like paranormal and you like mysteries then you are going to love this book! J.R. Rain and Aiden James have come up with a fantastic paranormal mystery series that will keep you enthralled. There are a lot of twists and turns to keep you turning pages to see what happens next. It is a must-read for sure!" -- Amazon review

"The story is fast-paced with great descriptions of the characters, witty dialogues and entertaining details. I don't want to give away too much about the plot, but this book concentrates on the magical Radu family's encounter with a Soul Taker attempting to bring hell to Denmark, TN -- in a quite literal sense. This was a great first book in the series and I can't wait for its continuation!" -- Amazon review

"Fantastic work! Truly a page turner, love the way you wove magic into this book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the two families and their struggles to get along with each other. I am eagerly waiting to read the next book in series!" -- Amazon review

"Mr. James and Mr. Rain have again combined their story telling prowess to bring their fans another bestselling story. The Soul Taker is a 'bridge' book. It bridges a previous Aiden James series, Clash of Covens, and the new Gabriel Files series. The story is still based in Denmark, Tennessee, so it was easy to go from past to present without too many pauses. I like the mix of supernatural and 'mundane' in the story and how Mr. James and Mr. Rain can make the story move and keep my attention (I have a very short attention span when it comes to reading). I like the way they build the tension, excitement, and guessing until the final few chapters. They then allow the story to settle and make its final moments happy, sad, and ready for the next book in this new series. Thank you Mr. James and Mr. Rain for your great storytelling." -- Amazon review

"Another James and Rain home run. I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Soul Taker. I thought the story was well crafted and the character development went along nicely. Was able to read it at a good pace with little breaks as it flowed nicely and held my interest. Bring on book two! Great job you guys." -- Amazon review
