A True Story of Resilience
Survival and Unbroken Spirit
A Civilian Dutch Woman in Europe During World War II

Treasures of Sadness is the story of Corrie's unbroken spirit.
If you love historical fiction, don't miss reading this real life memoir and page-turner: Treasures of Sadness

Treasures of Sadness is a real life account of a woman's journey that began during World War II. Corrie grew up in an affluent neighborhood in Amersfoort, Holland in the 1940's. From there she fell in love with a German soldier, rubbed elbows with royalty in Vienna, Austria and ended up in a coal mining town of West Virginia. There, she gave birth to one son and eventually ended up alone in the housing projects of Tennessee. From her journey she was able to take away some of life's treasures: perseverance, patience, strength, grit, positivity, inner peace, personal growth, and survival.

"It is one thing to have a compelling story to tell. Quite another to put it on to paper so it flows for the reader! In this case, both apply. Open the cover, turn the pages and receive a gift." - Mark Skomp

"An inspirational story of a young woman's struggle for survival during the German occupation of Europe in WWII." - Paul Jolley

"It touches on what comes of humanity when stretched to the breaking point and how different individuals respond to it. There are so many books out there about WWII and the lives of soldiers but very few touch on the every day citizens that are left in it's wake. I myself have read many WWII books but I had never viewed it through the eyes of a citizen the way this book allowed me to do. It is an easy yet powerful read that is hard to put down that allows you to view the best and worst of humanity." -David Melton

"I learned so much and felt so many emotions reading Treasures of Sadness. It is truly amazing what one person goes through in a lifetime. Corrie's story is inspiring and heartrending. The amount of dedication, devotion, and love she had was so transparent throughout the entire book. She really does have an unbroken spirit. It is one of those books where you start and can't put it down." -Jennifer Gerads
