Description
"Bleak House" is a satirical story written by Charles Dickens in 1853 and considered to be among the his best work.
"Bleak House" is the story of the Jarndyce family, who wait in vain to inherit money from a disputed fortune in the settlement of the extremely long-running lawsuit of Jarndyce and Jarndyce. The story of a number of people whose lives are consumed by a court case.
"Bleak House", like many of Dickens' writings, is about various social issues. The novel is pointedly critical of England's Court of Chancery, in which cases could drag on through decades of convoluted legal manoeuvring.
