Description

1920s gadabout Anty Boisjoly takes on his first case when his Oxford chum is facing the gallows, accused of the murder of his wealthy uncle.

Not one but two locked-room murders later, Boisjoly's pitting his wits and witticisms against a subversive butler, a senile footman, a single-minded detective-inspector, an errant goat, and the eccentric conventions of the pastoral Sussex countryside to untangle a multi-layered mystery of secret bequests, ancient writs, love triangles, revenge, and a teasing twist in the final paragraph.

The Case of the Canterfell Codicil is a classic, cosy, locked-room mystery with an improbable plot inspired by Agatha Christie and prose in the style of an homage to PG Wodehouse.

Can such a niche pastiche work? Let's let the readers decide... Part Way Through I Bought the Entire Series
I got the first book via Kindle Unlimited. I was about a quarter of the way through it and was enjoying it so much that I returned the K. U. copy and purchased all 4 volumes for my permanent library. ??????????

Brilliantly witty
Yes to the Agatha Christie meets PG Wodehouse comparisons, but it gets even better with a soupcon of Raymond Chandler, Oscar Wilde, and HH Munro added to the mix. ??????????

A delight!
I just love Anty Boisjoly! Great character, charming voice. The locked room part of the mystery was excellent, very reminiscent of Agatha Christie. ??????????

PERFECT cozy mystery, exceeds expectations. Read all of them now!
I'm a giant fan of the golden age mystery genre (and also of Wodehouse) and wasn't expecting a modern writer to be able to pull off the feeling one gets with a Christie, a Sayers, a Marsh, or an Allingham. ??????????

Everything You Want in an English Country House Mystery
The plot is more Christie than Wodehouse with multiple mysteries to solve, conflicting motivations, and layers of lies. ??????????

Fun and funny... not a dull moment
All the Anty Boisjoly Mysteries are a delight for those of us who still appreciate a good laugh and an over the top twisty/turn-y murder mystery. Great characters, great mysteries, great fun. ??????????

Love this series!
The author can't write them fast enough. I have to parcel the books out so I don't run out. If you are a fan of classic crime fiction and Blackadder these are for you. ??????????
