The Nick is a hard-hitting drama. It tells us about the life of Victor Wiley and how he gets into trouble with some local gangsters, but it is primarily based around prison life. Admittedly, this is a slow burner and the main character doesn't experience prison life until halfway through the story, but I wanted to tell the reader the background of the main character before his incarceration.

In order for this story to be true to life it will contain violence, sexual scenes, and derogatory language towards characters that some readers may find offensive.

Being behind bars is an ugly world, and I make no apology for the material you are about to read.

Introduction

How do you start a book like this? I have no idea. My name is Victor Wiley. I'm new to this game of writing, as you'll probably tell as you read on. I only used to use my laptop for surfing the net, and now I'm writing -- or typing -- my story. I warn you now, I'm not the most articulate person and maybe even a little unPC, so by the time this is released it may get an immediate ban, but it's a book about facts and what happened in my life.
I suppose the main question is: Who would want to read about me? Probably no one, but getting this down is good therapy, so I've been told, and... well, I just wanted to do it anyway, okay?
I am an honest narrator. I won't exaggerate stories or water them down to make me look good, I promise you that.
I'll start at the beginning, when my life began to descend into chaos. I'm not going to bore you about my family, work or background. If I add that in along the way, then fair enough.
Don't you just hate it when you read an autobiography of a famous person and they always start with their childhood and what they did, and the bike they got on their seventh birthday? I'm not going to bore you with any of that shit. Okay, so I'm not famous, but still, it's annoying.
Okay, so it all started around five years ago, around March/April time. That was my first step into a world of violence. And you know what the scariest thing about it was? I eventually enjoyed it.
