Description
Zoe Carter was a girl with trust issues, and rightfully so, since her mother, Cynthia, had abandoned her at the tender young age of five. Her father, Bryan, and grandparents - Pappy Joe and Nana Ruth - were there to pick up the pieces as best they could, wanting only to cushion her from any further blows.
Bryan was offered a promotion, and in Zoe's senior year of high school, he packed it all up, saying his goodbyes to Fort Wayne, Indiana and his wonderful parents, moving to the quaint C&O Canal town of Williamsport, Maryland.
Noah Clark was the popular guy in Zoe's senior class, being a jock with good looks, and the heartthrob of every girl. They shared homeroom with their desks touching, having one-sided conversations - with Noah doing all the talking.
Zoe grew to love the town of Williamsport and the C&O Canal where she would walk almost daily, thinking about her future once she graduated from college. Having new friends, a great job, and her precious shelter pet, Luna, by her side, she began to heal and trust the world around her.
That was until things suddenly changed... Zoe's fantasy of "happily ever after" had shattered, bringing back the past once again. It wasn't easy to dig deep in the midst of rejection and defeat, but necessary if her dreams were to come true - of opening a new restaurant with her best friend Emma.
