Description
Rural Ireland, a handsome stranger, dark secrets and the dream of moving on.
Marianne, a widowed mother, is just about managing to juggle her busy family life with the job that she enjoys and the demands of her eccentric but lovable boss. She has had a rough time in the past but things are on an even keel now and her twin boys are happy and healthy, which is all she really cares about.
But, as Marianne knows only too well, bad things happen to good people, and the sudden and tragic death of a colleague at Unit A not only brings back sad memories but threatens the delicate home/work balance that she has worked so hard to achieve.
After six difficult months of struggling to keep on top of things, Marianne feels a mixture of relief and irritation when a new and handsome, but outwardly cold and arrogant employee arrives at Unit A with rave reviews from the boss. Josu will take a lot of responsibility from Marianne's shoulders, which should make her life easier, but it's hard to be grateful when everything he says and does seems to rub her up the wrong way.
Moving to the west of Ireland from his rural home in the Basque Country is not such a big change for Josu, or so he thinks. But he accepted the job offer on a whim, and wonders if he's having some sort of mid-life crisis. Or is it just an escape from a life that has become boring and lonely. Either way, he'll stick it out for a year or two, get it out of his system, and then return home to the land he loves.
But shortly after Josu's arrival, there's a problem: a million euros is missing from the company accounts and he needs Marianne's help to find it. Or is he actually accusing her of theft? If Josu continues to alienate Marianne with his grumpy and aloof personality they will find it impossible to work together. And when a dark reminder of Josu's past comes back to haunt him, it only adds to the distrust between them.
