Description
In Victorian Edinburgh, Reverend Frederick Black is held in high esteem. But is he as virtuous as he seems or is he hiding a guilty secret?
It is 1860 and 25 year old Frederick Black has overcome poverty and prejudice to achieve his ambition of becoming a Church of Scotland minister. However, a secret love affair between the young cleric and a local woman threatens to destroy everything he has worked for. Help comes from an unexpected source but it means Reverend Black must turn his back on the person he loves. The consequences of his actions will only be resolved many years after his death, when a letter sent to him from Canada in 1919 is discovered in a mahogany sewing box by his great-great-great grand-daughter, Isabel.
