Murder, Magic, and a Mouthy Cat

Kim returns to her tiny Louisiana hometown (mostly) prepared to care for her mom and open her own salon. But she's completely unprepared for the surprise guest squatting in her new business: a sassy chatterbox of a cat.

The talking cat has a name, Schorl, and he's equally shocked to learn Kim can hear him in her thoughts. He's also equally unhappy about the prospect of sharing what he considers his home.

They strike a deal. Kim supplies tasty meals (no mackerel allowed) while Schorl helps unravel both their psychic connection and an even bigger mystery: discovering who murdered the dead guy in Kim's office.

The whole town loathed the victim, creating an endless list of potential killers. His death under her roof, however, makes Kim the prime suspect.

As Schorl grows fonder of Kim's culinary service, he agrees to help clear her name.

She has to endure his judgy voice in her head.
