There is still great interest around the world in the exploits of the men and women who fought in World War 2, and especially the bravery of the men who flew in Bomber Command. Night after night the bombers would leave airfields across England with the seven-man crew aboard to drop the bomb load - they were met by enemy fire as soon as they crossed the Channel and their chance of survival to the target, and safe return, was only just over 44%. The crews were aware of the fragility of their survival but the dark humour of the time and their commitment to each other helped them through.
This fictional tale, based on actual events and real servicemen is built around documentation, photographs of the time and research. My Dad's story was perhaps a common one in World War 2 of how seven men unknown to each other prior to the "crew gather" became a close-knit bomber crew, each prepared to give his life to defend his comrades and fight for his country .
