Description
This, the third and final book in the series, will complete the Saga of Ghislain d'Aboux. He was born in the year 1565 inside a tiny stone cottage, once owned by Henri II, King of Navarre. Henri had the place built in the summer of 1539 near the Cirque de Gavarnie as a sort of getaway for himself, his wife, Marguerite de Navarre, and their ten-year-old baby girl, Jeanne. Sixteen years later, Jeanne d'Albret became the queen regent of Navarre. She was the mother of Henri de Bourbon, who would become not just the King of Navarre, but eventually Henri IV, the King of France.
So, what is the connection between Ghislain, the son of a poor sheepherder, and all these Kings and Queens? You'll have to read the first book, GHISLAIN AND TRAHAEARN, to find out.
Then the second book details Ghislain's marriage to a Welsh girl named Branwen, which resulted in the birth of their daughter, Morgan.
Trahaearn was Ghislain's dog in book one. Raimbaut was his dog in book two. You will discover that 'dogs' play a vital role in the story starting throughout the series.
N'dakinna is what the indigenous people called the area we now call Maine and parts of New Hampshire USA. Ghislain goes there on several occasions. In my debut novel, you will read all about his many adventures over there, before being rescued and brought back to Wales.
GHISLAIN RETURNS, "The Last Dog" finds him returning to the land of the Penobscot, the Abenaki, Kennebec, and others. He brings his daughter with him, along with all his closest friends, including a Scottish knife seller, a French coachman, and a bandit who had turned his life around.
There are several dogs in book three, from Scottish Deerhounds to Pyrenean Mastiffs. One will become 'the last dog' in that this dog will be Ghislain's last.
