MEET FALCONER
William Falconer is a Regent Master of Aristotle's Hall at the University of Oxford. In his middle years, he suffers from poor eyesight, but he has been able to obtain eye-lenses -- a cause of great wonder among the townsfolk. His enquiring mind has been sharpened by his long friendship with Friar Roger Bacon and the Friar's unusual scientific obsessions. Falconer's keen logic draws him into several curious murder cases.
