Captain Ruby Harlow and her father get a killer deal on a pre-owned spaceship with a dark past. Determined to leave a dying earth for the final frontier, she and her wife overlook the ship's lousy attitude, quirky decisions, and nasty bat infestation. Their troubles escalate when a bloody ghost begins tormenting their brand-new fembot while the rest of the crew remains oblivious to the haunting. Despite mysterious problems with the ship, the captain leads a glorious launch.
Later, with the entire crew frozen in cryo, the malfunctioning spaceship strays off course, then suddenly wakes everyone too soon. Trapped without the possibility of returning to hypersleep, Ruby and her crew face the chilling realization that their journey will stretch across many years, with only a mysterious comet as their potential destination.
It was supposed to be a fun adventure, but the bloody ghost, snarky fembot, and creepy doctor are just too much for Bob. Back on Earth, Ruby's father was already having adjustment problems. He'd been a popsicle too long and thawed to discover a world that left him behind. It does't help that his daughter married a woman while he was frozen -- lesbians! How is he supposed to handle that? After being frozen and thawed, again, the endless isolation of deep space starts taking its toll on his poor, old brain. After a seizure, Bob becomes increasingly hostile and paranoid. Consumed by grandiose delusions, he's convinced that the ship's doctor is none other than Dracula himself. It sounds crazy, but he might be right, and proving it will push him to the brink of madness.
