This is a side story to the Cult series of books.
It wasn't hard for the Preacher and his wife to corrupt the middle aged school teacher. Her reduced circumstances and the debt her husband had left her in when he left her, had turned her life upside down. It was the visit from loan sharks with their implied threats that pushed her over the edge and it was surprising what someone who was desperate for money might do when left with little choice. Rebecca had thought herself to be a pillar of the community, respectable and respected, yet had surprised herself at how easily she had found herself agreeing to the Preacher's proposition and how willingly she had given herself to the Preacher and then his wife.
