Description
In 2014, Archivist Emma Colton offers to help neighbor and friend Florence Wentworth sort through two dozen boxes of journals, memorabilia, and personal letters gathered during her career as a professional ballerina who performed in the US-USSR cultural exchange program and as the widow of a State Department negotiator who worked in Moscow during the last days of the Soviet Union and the beginning of the Russian Federation. What does this have to do with Putin's war in Ukraine in 2024?
Florence is desperate to find her Russian friend, Irina Chislova, a former prima ballerina, who is missing and in grave danger. But Florence's call to a friend in Moscow triggers a series of dangerous attacks, including Florence's murder and a deliberate fire. Someone is trying to destroy the evidence that Florence has been collecting on a very dangerous spy ring.
On the run, Emma joins forces with Tom Jones, a man of mystery who is determined to find Irina Chislova, but not for the same reasons as Emma. He's convinced that Irina is a very real problem for the national security of the United States.
Emma and Tom must work together to solve a mystery that has spanned more than thirty-five years before the ghosts of Florence's secret past catch up to them... Irina's life depends on it!
