Description
There are many stories told by police officers, these are some of mine. Having taken the oath of an NYPD officer in January 1984 was the best decision I had ever made and to me the most enjoyable career. A police officer sees the best and worst sides of life - you have a front row, center seat. Experiences include: Chasing a suspect, approaching from his left side, meanwhile he pulled a gun from his left pocket, pointing it at me only a few feet away with my only thought being "what are the odds that he was a lefty". Using song Stairway To Heaven as backdrop to gun arrest. Working as a sergeant at the time of the United Nations 50th Anniversary and being called to a ritzy Midtown Manhattan hotel because the diplomat alleged the high price hooker in his room stole his $25,000 Rolex - how to avoid diplomatic incident. Coming home after a tour and watching your children breathe in their sleep because of things you saw.
This story tells of the first days of the Police Academy through my retirement. Hopefully, this presents to all the varied experiences of police officer during a regular day at work.
